THE 3 BODY TYPES

When it comes to fitness, building a physique can be simplified into 3 body types: endomorphs, ectomorphs and mesomorphs.

The endomorph is someone with a generally slower metabolism and is typically prone to a higher body weight or a higher body fat/ BMI. The ectomorph is someone with a generally faster metabolism and may have a more difficult time building muscle and may be underweight. The mesomorph is essentially a mix of the endo and ectomorph and has the benefit of a typically muscular build and is common amongst athletes. Technically speaking, no one is permanently “assigned”, if you will, to a body type. People have made transformations all across the board from weight loss transformations to immense muscle gain. People with a faster metabolism can typically go into a “cutting” phase of training where they diet and increase the amount of workout days per week. That, or they can add cardio into their routine. On the other hand, ectomorphs can focus on increasing their overall food intake while simultaneously working to increase their strength on compound movements. Furthermore, they could try to drink as much as a gallon of water per day or ensure they are getting a sufficient amount of sleep. This is especially true if their aim is to build muscle.
