You don’t need to pay $50 a month to workout if you don’t want to or if you cannot afford to. A gym is a luxury that combines the essential free weights and machines necessary to recomposition your body in a way that you see fit. Gyms can also be overly crowded and make it very inefficient to workout if you are on a crunch for time. Thus, a home workout could serve as a great alternative.
In my case, I workout at a gym for 8 months out of the calendar year since the school gym is free for me with my student ID. For the other 4 months (one month for winter break and 3 months for summer break) I train at home.
The same movement patters you would perform at a gym can be mimicked at home by investing an a pull-up bar and a couple of light dumbbells as opposed to constantly having to worry about paying a gym membership month to month. Dumbbells, on the other hand, are purchased just once and are available to use forever.
If you can get creative with it, your home workouts can be just as effective (if not, more effective) when compared to working out at a typical commercial gym.
